2024 went by in a flash, and while it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the past year – it’s also a great opportunity to get excited about welcoming the new year to come! So grab a glass of bubbly and sit back and enjoy here are some of the Blue Rock Law Team’s favourite New Year's Traditions!
David: Singing “Auld Lang Syne” to bring in the New Year.
Courtney: Strategizing and setting goals to dominate the upcoming year!
Stewart: Surviving New Years Resolutioners at the gym.
Thomas: some afternoon shinny at the neighbourhood ODR
Laura: Cheese fondu
Doug: Never making it to midnight
Grant: while I have missed a few years – x country skiing
Jim: remembering that my wife’s birthday is on Jan 2 and that being tired of celebrating is not an acceptable reason for forgetting to celebrate it.
Tim: Two or three (depending on how you look at it): 1(A) Family Games night Christmas eve. My boys are already talking sh*$ about the upcoming Risk Game; 1(B) Watching the World Junior Hockey Tournament; and 1(C) Volunteering for the Macs Midget (now Circle K Classic) Hockey Tournament over the holidays. Bonus answer, I usually try and sneak in a family movie night over the holidays watching Love Actually;
Scott: Skiing!
Gitane: My mum is Scottish and in Scotland, New Year’s or Hogmanay is a big deal. The tradition is to have a First Footer - the first person to enter your home in the new year and sets your luck for the year.
A: Family game night though most years the tradition is that we don’t actually make midnight!
M: Celebrating the New Year with family somewhere other than home.
R: 1) large gathering for merry drink and song, 2) Fireworks
C: A tie between a birthday party for my eldest (New Years Eve baby), skating party at the pond following a game night with family/friends.
Happy New Year and all the best in 2025 from the entire team at Blue Rock Law!
